Boxes

To make the boxes to protect your amazing cards, you will

need an M & F Crease Board from Keepsake Cards.

The effect of both the cards and the extra detail of the box

is beautiful.  Anyone would appretiate the thought when

presented with them on a special occassion

I always line my boxes with an appropriate picture that

I have either found on the internet or I have scanned

into my computer.  As long as you make sure

anything you have found on the internet

 has not got a copyright

you are ok to use it.

I then either write or download a verse, depending on

how well I know the person I'm making

the card for (i.e. the recipient)

To make the box you will need

2 pieces of either gold or silver card to make the box

paper to print your lining on

(if that's what you are going to do)

Paper guillotine

M & F Crease Board

Crease Mouse to score the foldlines

on to the card

How to make the box

1. Using the guilotine, vut a slither of card from two edges of one piece of the gold or silver card so that when placed on top of the other piece it is slightly smaller than the other

2. Place the crease board in front of you and place the smaller piece of card shiny side down against the stopper

3. Take the crease mouse and score along the first channel nearest the stopper

4.  Turn the card and repeat this on all four sides the repeat again with the other piece of card

5.  Taking the smallest of the cards, fold the edges along the scored lines, all around the card.  Repeat on the other

6.  Where the score lines crossed there is a small square.  Holding the card lengthways, cut along the line on the longest side of the card from the edge (cutting the line across the narrow stip along the edge) stop at he parallel crease above this.  Repeat this on the other end of the same longest side and on the opposite side of he card. (Do not cut the ones on the shorter ends)

7. Cut a small piece of double sided tape and place on the square on the shortest ends of the box (there are four squares in total) and peel the backing off

8.  Fold the end of the card up to form raised side and repeat with the longer side.  Make sure the two edges are fitted together properly and stick the together with the double sided tape

9.  Repeat this with the other sides ending up with a bottom of a box

10. Repeat all the above steps with the other piece of card and you should end up with a lid

Make sure they fit one inside the other neatly and place
the bookatrix card inside it

If you are going to line the lid and box bottom, make sure
you measure across the top and the bottom of
the box on the inside not the outside and cut
the paper to those measurements taking a couple
of millimetres off them so the paper fits inside snugly

You can print the picure and the verse using
Microsoft Office Word
and placing the picture behind the writing using the
'watermark' option on 'fade' in word, this will
enable you to read the writing over
the colours in the picture.  The size should be
250 in this option, but play around with
it to get it right before you print
 to save paper and ink

Print your verse before you cut the paper
 to fit the box

I hope you found this useful to you and you enjoy making
my version of the Bookatrix Cards
